Getting Started With CrossFit Xystum
How to be a part of CrossFit Xystum?
First, we believe you really need to get a feel for what CrossFit Xystum is all about. We want you to feel comfortable with us and confident this is a place you will be able to obtain your fitness goals. Xystum (pronounced: ZIS-tuhm) is not your typical gym. You will quickly see we are not interested in just getting people in the door. We place utmost care and concern in helping you obtain your fitness and health goals. We work best with the people who have made a decision to give it all they’ve got. These are the people we seek, because these are the people who will accomplish their goals.
Step 1
Go through our website at www.crossfitxystum.com. After you explore it, including its CrossFit links, you should have a fairly good idea about CrossFit and our facility.
Step 2
Contact us if you have any questions. We really encourage you to stop by and observe, or on Saturdays our 10:00 to 11:00 sessions are free for first time people. No commitments are necessary. Just bring your workout gear and a bottle of water. This is a great way to experience CrossFit Xystum firsthand without any anxieties. Try to arrive a few minutes early so we can have you fill out a couple of forms before you get started.
Step 3
Step 3 is critical! Because it requires two things: 1 - A decision, and 2 - Action.
Whether you are a hardcore fire-breather who has been waiting for a CrossFit gym to finally come to Escondido, or the average guy/girl next door, you need to make that deeply critical internal decision. We are not here to sell you or convince you of anything. No one can pressure you. It has to come from you and you alone. Once you have made the decision, action is your next step.
Go to the FORMS area on the right side of this page. Please print out and read thoroughly. Please fill out the requested information. Call or write if you have any questions. Contact us for an appointment. We will go over your information and get you all set up. It is as simple as that.
Hope to see you soon,
Judy and Tom Fitzgerald

Is CrossFit for you?
About 7 years ago the CrossFit movement rose as an alternative to the prevailing commercial gym, machine-based, bodybuilding approach to fitness. CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our goal is simple; to increase your work capacity, across broad time and modal domains. This is simply defined as doing more in shorter periods of time. The prescription we use is to have you perform constantly varied, functional movements at relatively high intensities. But don’t worry; you will not be thrown into the fire as soon as you hit the door! Correct movement and mechanics are of paramount importance. We define this as moving yourself and external objects in the most efficient, effective and safe manner possible.
As you become consistent with proper mechanics, you will progressively become inoculated with small doses of high intensity. The great thing about CrossFit is this program is designed for universal scalability. This is what makes it a perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience or physical condition. These routines have been used for elderly individuals, as well as cage fighters who are one month out from televised bouts. The only major differences in their routines will be load and intensity.
Because all of our exercise routines consist of functional movements, our group training sessions will often have the average person and elite athlete side by side. We scale load and intensity so you don’t have to worry about what to do, how much to do or how many times you have to do it. We take care of that for you.
If you have not done CrossFit before, no matter where you are on the fitness spectrum, you will experience extraordinary improvements in strength, power, speed, flexibility and endurance. Combining these physical adaptations with simple diet modifications will result in profound positive alterations in health, including increased muscle mass, decreased body fat, decreased blood pressure, decreased resting heart rate, increased V02 max, increased insulin sensitivity and the list goes on… If you would like to experience these positive physiological adaptations in the quickest manner possible, then CrossFit is for you.
